Valley Medical Group’s board-certified clinical geneticist specializes in cancer genetics, pediatrics, and prenatal genetics.
Services include cancer genetic counseling and predictive genetic testing to individuals who have a personal and/or family history of heart disease or cancers, including breast, ovarian, pancreatic, uterine, and colon cancers. Children with developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, seizures, and birth defects, as well as pregnant women at Valley’s Center for Maternal-Fetal Medicine who have potential genetic problems in their unborn babies, may also receive genetic counseling.
Genetic evaluations are also provided, and include a review of personal medical history, detailed family cancer histories, and a physical exam, if needed. The chance that a risk for cancer might be passed along through the genes in the family will be estimated. Appropriate counseling and cancer gene testing, such as BARCA testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, will be provided.
