Valley Medical Group Names Chief Medical Officer

 
Valley Medical Group (VMG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marc Melamed, M.D., as the medical group’s first Chief Medical Officer.   Dr. Melamed will assume his new positon in mid-July.
 
A member of Valley’s Medical Staff since 1981, Dr. Melamed currently serves as Chair of Medical Services for VMG and Director of the Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.  Over the past 34 years, Dr. Melamed has held many leadership positions, including serving as President of the Medical Staff and as a Trustee on both The Valley Hospital and Valley Health System Boards. 
 
Dr. Melamed, who resides in Oakland, NJ, attended Dartmouth College and New York University School of Medicine.  He completed a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center.
 
Dr. Melamed will share responsibility with VMG President Marc Goldstein.  Some of Dr. Melamed’s key priorities will be to: 
 
· Build a cohesive organizational culture that reinforces the highest quality clinical care and service; and 
· Assist the Medical Group’s physicians and staff to enhance their programs and services through the adoption of   strategies that advance the use of innovative care delivery models and state of the art technology; and 
· Strengthen relationships with all members of The Valley Hospital’s Medical Staff.
 
Valley Medical Group brings together doctors and advance practice professionals who practice at The Valley Hospital, Valley’s Blumenthal Cancer Center in Paramus, eight urgent/primary care centers, and community-based practices. VMG joins The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care as the three entities that form Valley Health System.
