I specialize in both interventional and preventative cardiology. In doing so, I utilize the full complement of noninvasive risk stratification modalities (echocardiography, stress testing, rhythm monitoring, impedance cardiography and vascular imaging) to assess my patients thoroughly. This permits a determination of which patient is at risk for heart attack or stroke, so that these disease states can be prevented by optimally treating risk factors in advance. I am also active in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Valley Hospital, performing angiograms and angioplasty with stent placement, as well as preparing patients for heart surgery.
I believe in the importance of lifestyle modification with diet and exercise prior to utilizing medication. Even so, I prescribe medication on a regular basis to control high blood pressure, high cholesterol, blood clotting, etc.
I have lectured extensively throughout the east coast on hypertension (high blood pressure); dyslipidemia (high cholesterol) and thrombosis (blood clotting). I thoroughly enjoy meeting and interacting with physicians and nurses in different medical communities, as well as learning from my colleagues.
I take a great deal of pride in my communication skills, and listen carefully as my patients explain their medical problems and the emotional responses associated with those problems. I provide clear and detailed explanations to my patients so that they leave the office feeling comfortable with the knowledge that, together we will enact a plan to make them feel better. I also like to engage family members in the dialogue as I find this interaction helpful to both myself as well as the patient.
